Residents Participated in Draft Bylaw Disability

An opportunity is given to the residents to contribute ideas in the formation of the Amendment Draft Bylaw No. 10/2011 on Protection of People with Disabilities.

Jakarta Social Dept. Secretary, Mariana disclosed that a synergy effort with residents is established to develop Jakarta disability-friendly. Her dept. as coordinator of preparation for the draft bylaw routinely opens meetings.

Besides regional unit and academic, residents are also involved through representative from social organization for persons with disabilities.

As known, City Provincial Government already has Bylaw No. 10/2011 on Protection of Persons with Disabilities. Yet, it still refers to the provision of Law No. 4/1997 on Persons with Disabilities.

Then is Law No. 19/2011 on Ratification of Convention On The Right of Persons with Disabilities and Law No. 8/2016 on Persons with Disabilities.

"It requires the substance of the charge material of Bylaw No. 10/2011 on Protection of Persons with Disabilities to adjust," he expressed.

She added, in addition to improve service and fulfillment of rights for persons with disabilities, it is also an attempt to eliminate the negative stigma that still attached to them.
